From Neymar to Modric – Set Up Your Fantasy Team for the World Cup Opener

The World Cup is finally kicking off today – so you should not wait much to set up your fantasy team at

We give you a little guide how to select your starting XI with the players who are likely to play a key role in the opening match. So let’s see the Brazil-Croatia tie’s fantasy preview with six key players!

Both teams have experienced goalkeepers, but our choice is undoubtedly Julio Cesar. The 34-year-old shot stopper won the Confederations Cup with Brazil last year and made some brilliant saves. He was chosen into the dream team of the tournament and was awarded the Golden Glove.

Our defender choice is Thiago Silva. Brazil’s team captain had a brilliant season with PSG and raised the attention of top clubs like Barcelona and Manchester City. The 29-year-old full-back is one of the best central defenders in the world.

Croatia’s midfield looks more comprehensive, so we’ve picked two European players. One of them is Luka Modric. The Real Madrid playmaker had an outstanding season in which they won the Champions League. And there is another European Cup winner Ivan Rakitic. The Sevilla midfielder’s performance caught the eyes of Barcelona’s scouts and rumour has it that the Catalan giant will sign him in the summer. You should too.

But you can’t set up your team without a Brazilian midfielder. Our choice would be Oscar. A young, skillfull and fast midfielder who can score great goals from unexpected situations. A good pick.

There is no question who is the best striker: Neymar. The Brazilian number 10 made the breakthrough last summer when signed with Barcelona and in his first European season he scored 15 goals and assissted 15.
