Sabri Lamouchi has stepped down as Ivory Coast head coach after the African side failed to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup. Ivory Coast were a minute away from qualifying for the last 16, but they conceded a penalty at the end.
Former France international Lamouchi’s contract ran until the end of the World Cup. After the game he said he is deeply disappointed for the players. “My contract comes to an end at this World Cup and there will be no epilogue and you can understand well as to why”, said. Lamouchi was appointed in 2012, this was his first managerial adventure.
Cesare Prandelli announced that he is leaving the Italian national team as they failed to reach the Round of 16 too. The Italian head coach was the first who resigned during the World Cup.
