The last round of the Champions League group stage has come. Let’s see which players should you sign into your fantasy team in TheFantasyFootball.
Manuel Neuer (Bayern München, goalkeeper). The German champions are already made it to the last 16 as a group winner and they can play without pressure against CSKA Moscow. Neuer, who is nominated for the FIFA Ballon d’Or, conceded only 4 goals in 5 Champions League matches and collected the most fantasy points among goalkeepers (161). 10 diving saves and 8 keeper sweepers so far.
John Terry (Chelsea, defender). Another team which is already qualified for the next round. John Terry is one of the most stable points in the London-based side’s defence, and in addition he scored two goals and provided two assist in 5 matches this Champions League season. He is passing with a 95 percent accuracy, what is more than good. And you should think about the last 16.
Raphael Varane (Real Madrid, defender). Raphael Varane is a regular starter for Real Madrid in the Champions League and you should trust him further. The French full-back’s passing accuracy is 92 percent, he won the 65% of his duels and he made 12 interceptions in the past 5 games. With the absence of Sergio Ramos and Pepe, he will have a big role in Carlo Ancelotti’s defence.
Raheem Sterling (Liverpool, midfielder). It’s a now or never game for the Reds against Basel on the Anfield. If Liverpool don’t get all the there points against the Swiss team, they won’t advance to the next round. Sterling, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, can play a key role in the game. The rising star of the Reds didn’t play very well against Basel in Switzerland so it’s time for him to shine.
Fernando (Manchester City, midfielder). The Brazilian midfielder was an absentee in the first two rounds but since then he is unstoppable. He collected 85 fantasy points in three matches, passing with a 94 percent accuracy and winning all of his attempted dribbles. It will be a crucial game against AS Roma for Manchester City as it decides who will go through from the group with Bayern München.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke, forward). Schalke still has the chance to go through if the German team defeat Maribor and Sporting lose against Chelsea. Huntelaar is the hope of Schalke: the Dutch striker scored three goals in the Champions League this season and he want to add more against the Slovenian champion, that’s for sure.
Lionel Messi (Barcelona, striker). Barcelona have to win against PSG if they want to win the group. The Argentinian is in a great form: he scored a hat-trick against Espanyol in the weekend. He scored three times in the Champions League’s last round too. If any player is capable of scoring and deciding the match against the Parisians, that is Lionel Messi.
